SellMyCell started back in 2017 when Rob turned his passion for fixing electronics into something bigger. What began with tinkering on stereos and motorbikes as a kid, and repairing phones through uni, has grown into a service that helps people like you get fair value for old devices.
These days, Rob runs SellMyCell with Abbie, mixing technical know-how with clear, friendly communication (and the occasional “help” from wee Wilbur).
For us, it’s always been personal. We believe in honesty, fairness, and giving every phone a second life – so you can feel good knowing you’ve made the smart choice.

Keeping phones in
the loop
We’re committed to keeping phones in use for as long as possible and reducing e-waste. Every device we buy is carefully assessed and given a second life wherever we can.
Reuse first
Around 95% of the phones we buy are reused. Each one is checked, securely data-wiped, and rehomed to someone who can keep it in use. Sometimes we also reuse parts from one phone to help give another phone a new life.
Responsible recycling
For the few devices that can’t be reused, we partner with Re:Mobile NZ, who follow the best recycling practices currently available.
Closing the loop
These devices are sent to specialist facilities in Japan, where precious materials like gold, silver, and copper are safely recovered and fed back into the next generation of mobile devices.
